Report From Hiawassee.

This is the first civilization on the trail. It's a hostel and outfitter where I mailed stuff home.

Look carefully at the bunny. I think this means I'm supposed to listen.

Mmm. Seaweed noodles.

Morning hiking is the best.

There are always plants that grow only right beside the trail. Here it's grass, but it is often these tiny purple flowers that make me happy. Ryan Doolittle would like them too.

Caroline and Ler at the Swag.

Here Adrian's parents stuff everyone in their truck and haul us to town.

Yay for easier hiking. I bet your body is also getting used to the hike, as well as reducing your load 7 pounds. We're on the road now too--very slow going with lots of stops, but so far no one has flipped out ;) Tomorrow we'll go to Minneapolis. Maybe we'll eat at that Cambodian? Laotian? restaurant that we liked so much on our bike trip. Glad you found some good Mexican food--sounds like high qual hiking fare

Ryan, Just catching up. I ran into Marianne and she told me about the haircut. I've added hiking the trail to my bucket list when life permits...Jordan is betting against my ability to do so, however, I'm hoping he'll join me! The Witmers are expecting you in Monson, ME. Thanks for sharing your jounals. Wishing you a great day.

MILES! So excited to learn of your hike and to now follow along online. You've got a bit of a late start, but there's plenty of time ahead of you. I started May 2nd last year and finished Sept. 2. I am going to be reading your entries. Wow. Too cool.

It was nice talking to you today at the Hiker in G'burg. I look forward to reading about you ride on the Blue Ridge Parkway and after.

I was looking at the pics in this post. Looks like you're encountering some Indian Trail trees. I love tying to see what they are saying!
